McChesney was a featured performer at the 2005 International Association of Jazz Educators Conference and recently performed the famous cornet piece “The Carnival of Venice” on slide trombone with the Idaho Falls Symphony. He is a popular guest artist at Festivals, Concert Series and Universities.

McChesney has authored a successful trombone method, “Doodle Studies and Etudes” (Chesapeake Music). His book and CD recording is an in-depth analysis of doodle tonguing for trombone and has been widely praised as the definitive method on the technique.
